Burma Update: August 28, 2007

Dear Friends,

This is an urgent update on today situation.

As of this posting, approximately 15-20 people were arrested at a protest this afternoon started around 2 pm at Hlaedan in Rangoon. A prominent labor rights activist Ms. Su Su Nway is reportedly among these arrested.

Another protest took place in the morning in Sittwe City of Rakhine State, western Burma. About 300 people including many Buddhists monks joined the demonstration.
